Charging, tracking and power, where the specification that matters is rarely the big number

Power bank listings compete on capacity, which is the least useful number on the box. A 20,000mAh bank that outputs 18W will charge a laptop slowly or not at all, while a smaller one at 87W charges it properly. Wattage decides what you can charge; capacity only decides how many times. Work out what you need to power before comparing the headline figures.
The second thing nobody mentions is the cable. A power bank with a built-in USB-C cable is meaningfully more useful than a higher-capacity one without, because the cable is the part you forget. That is not a spec, it is a design decision, and it is usually the difference between a bank that gets used and one that stays in a drawer.
Wireless charging is slower and warmer than a cable, always. It exists for convenience, not speed, and thick cases block it entirely. If your case is over about five millimetres, check compatibility before ordering rather than after.
Which one suits you
You need to charge a laptop away from a socket
The Anker 20,000mAh at 87W. The wattage is what makes this possible; a similarly sized bank at 20W will trickle a laptop at best. The built-in USB-C cable removes the most common failure, which is having the bank and not the cable.
You want top-up charging while still using the phone
The Anker MagGo. It attaches magnetically to a MagSafe iPhone and charges while you hold it, which is the specific case wireless solves well. Accept that it is slower and gets warm; that is the trade.
You want one place to put the phone at a desk
The INIU charging station. Check your case thickness first — wireless charging through a heavy case either fails or charges so slowly it is pointless, and the case is the variable nobody checks.
You keep losing things
The AirTag. It works through the Find My network, meaning every nearby iPhone anonymously reports its location — so range is effectively wherever people are, not wherever you are. Useless outside Apple devices.
Something in your house needs a coin cell
The CR2032 ten-pack. Car fobs, kitchen scales, AirTags and thermometers all use them, and buying ten costs barely more than buying two.
What people get wrong
- Comparing power banks on capacity alone. Wattage decides what you can charge; capacity only decides how often.
- Buying a power bank without a built-in cable. The cable is the part that gets left behind.
- Expecting wireless charging to be fast. It is slower and warmer than a cable, by design, always.
- Buying an AirTag for an Android household. The tracking depends entirely on the Apple Find My network.
